Biography
Lindsay Bennett knows what it means to shine. The daughter of renowned
rock 'n roll star Joe Bennett of the famous 50's band, "Joe Bennett & the
Sparkletones", Lindsay owes her claim to fame to watching her father
perform and hearing his recordings. Since the age of two, she has been in
the spotlight, whether performing on stage or recording in a studio. At age
five she cut a demo for an independent film company based in Alaska. By
the time she was in elementary school, she landed leading roles in local
plays and musicals. At the age of twelve, she began taking voice lessons
at Converse College where she studied folk, Broadway, and Classical
technique. She landed a spot on Ed McMahon's Next Big Star Internet
Competition at the age of fifteen where she sang an Italian aria, "Quella
Fiamma". Although she only made it to the quarter-finals, Lindsay made
a come back on Showtime At The Apollo held in Greenville, South
Carolina, where she was a top 14 finalist out of over 450 acts that
auditioned. Her voice is featured on sites such as LDSMusicWorld.com,
defordmusic.com, simondaum.com, and latterdaysongs.com.
Lindsay has had tremendous experience in the recording studio. She has
recorded with Henderson Entertainment, is a demo artist for Christian
songwriter Sally DeFord, and writes her own songs which she produces
herself in her father's recording studio. She has also worked with other
artists such as hip/hop artist LaSaDaii, and German composer Simon
Daum. Along with extensive work in the recording studio, Lindsay has also
made her way onto the stage in several productions. She has performed
the roles of Maria in "Westside Story", Liesl in "The Sound of Music",
Cinderella in "Into The Woods", and as Elizabeth in an original musical
entitled "Threads of Hope", just to name a few. She has also appeared in
the television show "Hey Atlanta", as a co-anchor and featured artist. She
recently appeared as an extra in Missing Link Production's "A Tale About
Bootlegging", and has also been featured in music videos for recording
artist Ricky Moody, and has filmed for British rock band J-39.
In the summer of 2005, Lindsay launched a tour that covered various
venues in Utah and Idaho, such as the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City, and
BYU-Idaho. She performed a series of shows which included some of her
own pop songs, Broadway tunes, Opera, and songs written by Sally
DeFord. At BYU-Idaho, she put together a fireside entitled "ENDURE" for
college students where she was a motivational speaker and guest artist.
She has performed all across the East and West coasts, and made her
latest debut in Rome, Italy in 2006.
Lindsay studies in Converse College's Petrie School of Music where she
is a vocal performance major. She plans to pursue a career as an opera
singer as well as continue to write and perform her own Christian and pop
songs.
"I want to make a difference in the world," says Lindsay. "As cliche as it
sounds...isn't that what we're all after? To define ourselves by not being
afraid to stand up on the risers in front of the world, sharing with everyone
that very thing which makes us unique? That is what I wish to do, whether
through Opera, Christian, pop, or any other style...I want to share and
expose my heart, soul, and beliefs to all who are willing to listen, and
somehow show the greatness and glory of my Heavenly Father...the very
One who has blessed me with these talents and gifts. It is to Him that I owe
everything."
